Today in the Malaysia Masters, mixed doubles Chen Tang Jie and Valerie Siow silenced their detractors by defeating world No. 12 Mark Lamsfuss and Isabel Lohau of Germany to advance to the round of 16. At the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, Tang Jie-Valeree dominated the European champions 21-17, 21-11 in just 33 minutes of play, their fourth tournament together since joining forces in May.

Following their triumph against Japan’s Yuki Kaneko-Misaki Matsutomo in the Malaysia Open first round last week, it was their second victory over a top-20 pair. In the opening round of the Indonesia Masters, Tang Jie-Valeree was criticized by fans for losing to Indonesia’s Rinov Rivaldy-Pitha Haningtyas Mentari so easily.
