2022 Japan Open Badminton Men’s Singles Quarterfinal Results, Score, Winners, And Indian Performance
Indian efforts at the Japan Open came to an end on Friday when HS Prannoy lost a hard-fought match to Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen, the bronze medalist from the world championships. The 30-year-old Indian gave it everything he had and saved three match points, but in the end Chou prevailed 21-17 15-21 22-20 in a thrilling encounter that lasted an hour and 20 minutes.
Chou had a six-point lead at the half as a result of Prannoy’s shaky start to the final. Later, Prannoy built the rallies superbly and used accuracy in his returns, particularly two lovely cross-court returns, to make the score 12-13. But once more, he made unforced errors that cost him heavily as Chou gained three match points. Prannoy managed to save three match points and dragged the score to 20-20 but Chou maintained his nerves to win the decider with a score of 22-20.
