The 2022 Japan Open, which has been a part of the Japan Open championships since 1977, is the sixteenth event on the 2022 BWF World Tour. The Nippon Badminton Association is in charge of organizing this competition, which has BWF approval.

The 2022 Japan Open, a badminton championship with a $750,000 prize pool, will take place in Osaka at the Maruzen Intec Arena from August 30 to September 4. Viktor Axelsen, who was just crowned world champion, is not competing, thus Lakshya Sen and in-form Indian shuttler HS Prannoy will be vying for the gold medal.

2022 Japan Open Badminton Men’s Singles First Round Results, Score, Winners, And Indian Performance

After his opponent Ng ka Long Angus withdrew injured midway through the first round here on Tuesday, Indian shuttler HS Prannoy advanced to the men’s singles pre-quarterfinals of the Japan Open. When the world No. 12 player from Hong Kong withdrew after only seven minutes of their men’s singles opening, the unseeded Prannoy leading with a score of 11-10 and looked set to snatch the first game. The former world champion Loh Kean Yew of Singapore will now be the opponent for the Indian, who is ranked number 18 in the world.

On Wednesday’s first round of the men’s singles competition at the 2022 Japan Open, Lakshya Sen will face Kenta Nishimoto. Lee Zii Jia, the fifth-seeded player, will compete against Srikanth Kidambi in a difficult first-round game.

Points Award System

The BWF point distribution system was used to determine how points were awarded during the BWF World Tour Super 750 competition. Men’s Singles tournament winners will receive 11,000 BWF points, while runners-up will receive 2,660 points, as per the rules. Shuttlers hoping to climb the BWF World Rankings will undoubtedly be motivated by the large number of points up for grabs.

Prize Money Pool Distribution

The entire prize pool for the 2022 Japan Open will be $750,000 when the awards are given out in compliance with BWF regulations. From this pool, $52,500 will go to the winner of the men’s singles tournament, while $25,500 will go to the runner-up.
