From August 30 to September 4 in 2022, the Maruzen Intec Arena in Osaka will host the $750,000 Japan Open badminton competition. The tenacious Chou Tien Chen and Japanese youngster Nishimoto Kenta will compete in the men’s singles final at 2022 Japan Open. Fourth-seed Chou defeated Shi Yuqi in a nail-biting match that ended 15-21, 21-19, 21-12 in favor of Chou.
Meanwhile, home favorite Nishimoto won against the same opponent for the second week in a row, defeating Anders Antonsen of Denmark 22-20, 21-19, to go to his first tour final.
Given his experience on big stages, Chou Tien-Chen will be the overwhelming favorite in the final as per bookmakers. However, Nishimoto will be buoyed by the home crowd, who will surely motivate him to stage another upset and win his first major title.

The BWF point distribution method served as the foundation for the BWF World Tour Super 750 competition’s point allocation. The Men’s Singles competition winner will receive 11,000 BWF points per the rules, while the eventual loser will only receive 9,350 points. Young Japanese player Kenta Nishimoto defeated third-seeded Antonsen to claim his second victory over the Danish in as many weeks. His current string of outstanding victories will surely help him rise in the BWF World Rankings.

Prize Money Pool Distribution
Once the rewards are given out in accordance with BWF criteria, the total prize pool for the 2022 Japan Open will be $750,000. From this pot, $52,500 will go to the winner of the men’s singles match, while $25,500 will go to the loser. Shi Yuqi and Anders Antonsen, who lost in the semifinals, each received $10,500 in prize money.
