A star-studded field is competing in the 2022 Japan Open, a prestigious badminton tournament with a $750,000 prize pool and taking place from August 30 to September 4 in Osaka’s Maruzen Intec Arena. Chinese women’s doubles duo of Chen QC & Jia YF continued to march forward in their quest for yet another title as they made a comeback win in Friday’s quarterfinal match.

2022 Japan Open Badminton Doubles Category Semi-final Results, Score, Winners, And Korean Dominance
In the mixed doubles category, Japanese duo of Watanabe Yuta & Higashino Arisa defeated world champions Zheng Si Wei & Huang Ya Qiong by score of 21-17, 12-21, 23-21. It was the Chinese pair’s first loss over Watanabe & Higashino in three years. With this win, the Japanese pair avenged their loss against Zheng & Huang in the final last week in Tokyo.
In the women’s doubles final, Korean duo of Jeong Na Eun & Kim Hye Jeong will compete against fellow Korean pair of Baek Ha Na & Lee Yu Lim. Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles, the talented duo of Liang Wei Keng & Wang Chan will compete against Kim Astrup & Anders Skaarup Rasmussen.
On Sunday at 2022 Japan Open, all doubles category final matches will be played and surprisingly, none of the finals will include top-seeded duo. From the three finals, mixed doubles final is expected to be the highlight clash featuring second-seeded Thai duo and third-seeded home favorite duo.

Points Award System
The BWF World Tour Super 750 competition was built on the BWF point distribution system. According to the rules, the victorious doubles pair will receive 11,000 BWF points, while the losing team will receive 9,350 BWF points. Since all four of the top-seeded mixed doubles teams reached the semifinals, the BWF World Rankings may undergo a dramatic adjustment following the conclusion of the 2022 Japan Open.

Prize Money Pool Distribution
Once all awards have been given out in accordance with BWF guidelines, the total prize pool for the 2022 Japan Open will be $750,000. From this prize pool, the winning doubles team at the Japan Open will collect $55,500, while the runner-up duo will walk away with $26,250. In the interim, the semi-finalist teams will each receive a prize of $10,500.
