The 16th stop of the 2022 BWF World Tour is the Japan Open, which has been a part of the Japan Open championships since 1977. This competition, which has BWF accreditation, is organised by the Nippon Badminton Association.

The 2022 Japan Open, a prominent badminton tournament with a $750,000 prize pool and taking place from August 30 to September 4 in Osaka’s Maruzen Intec Arena, will feature a star-studded line-up. The Indian men’s doubles duo of D Kapila & MR Arjun will want to build on their outstanding performance and work some magic at the Japan Open.

2022 Japan Open Badminton Doubles Category First Round Results, Score, Winners, And Indian Performance

Malaysian women’s doubles duo of Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah shocked world No. 2 Shin Sheung Chan and Lee So Hee in the first round of the Japan Open. At the Maruzen Intec Arena in Osaka, Pearly & Thinaah defeated Sheung Chan-So Hee by scores of 16-21, 21-14, and 21-18. For a spot in the final eight, Pearly & Thinaah will compete against Baek Ha Na & Lee Yu Lim, another Korean pair. Vivian Hoo and Lim Chiew Sien, a fellow women’s doubles duo, defeated Linda Efler and Isabel Lohau of Germany in straight sets with a score of 21-17, 23-21.

Meanwhile, top-seeded Indonesian team of Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo & Marcus Fernaldi Gideon defeated the Malaysian team of Wei Chong & Kai Wun by a score of 23-21, 21-19, demonstrating their tenacity.

The BWF World Tour Super 750 competition’s point allocation was based on the BWF point distribution system. According to the rules, the victorious doubles team will receive 11,000 BWF points, while the second-place team will receive 2,660 points. The substantial number of points up for grabs will definitely inspire competitors looking to advance in the BWF World Rankings.

Prize Money Pool Distribution

When the prizes are distributed in accordance with BWF rules, the total prize pool for the 2022 Japan Open will be $750,000. The victor of the doubles tournament at the Japan Open will receive $55,500 in prize money from this pool, while the duo finishing second will receive $26,250.
