The East Ventures Indonesia Open 2022 was a badminton competition held from 14 to 19 June 2022 at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta, Indonesia. The total prize pool was $1,200,000. For the first time in tournament history, none of the Indonesian shuttlers managed to qualify for the semi-finals.

Viktor Axelsen successfully defended his Indonesia Open badminton championship on Sunday, defeating Zhao Jun Peng of China 21-9, 21-10 in the men’s singles final. The Olympic champion, who reached his eighth Super 1000 final in a row, beat his unseeded opponent in just 38 minutes to win his second straight tournament in Jakarta after winning the Indonesian Masters a week ago.

Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei defeated Asian champion Wang Zhi Yi of China earlier in the day to capture her third women’s singles title at the competition. Second-seed Tai Tzu-ying came back strong after surprisingly losing the first set and ultimately, won the title with a score of 21-23, 21-6, 21-15.

Prize Money Pool Distribution

The prize money will be divided according to BWF rules. This tournament has a total prize pool of $1,200,000. The winner of the doubles category would get $88,800 in prize money in addition to the gold medal, according to the rules. The runner-up in the doubles category will receive a total of $42,000.
