PV Sindhu’s journey at the Indonesia Masters Super 500 tournament came to an end on Friday as she lost to World No. 8 Ratchanok Intanon in the women’s singles quarter-final. Sindhu was prone to errors, as she was defeated 12-21 and 10-21 in Jakarta by Intanon.

Ratchanok Intanon defeated PV Sindhu for the fifth time in a row. The Indian shuttler now has a 9-4 head-to-head record versus the 27-year-old. Sindhu had advanced to the quarter-finals after a hard-fought win over Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in the second round on Thursday, but she struggled against Chen.

The 27-year-old Intanon was at her best, looking at ease both in attack and defence, and the Indian was never able to recover, losing for the sixth time in a row to her Thai opponent. After easily winning the first game, Intanon was even angrier in the second, sprinting to a 10-point lead and sealing the deal in 33 minutes.
