Lakshya, the bronze medalist at the World Championships, battled back to tie the second game, but Chou Tien Chen, the third seed from Chinese Taipei, won the decider. Lakshya fell 16-21, 21-12, 14-21 after a thrilling match that lasted over an hour.
The silver medalist from the 2018 Asian Games, who had beaten Sen in the Thomas Cup group stage in their only previous meeting, put on a show in the decider and placed early pressure on the 20-year-old. The World No. 4 scored three consecutive points to take a six-point lead halfway through the decider.
Sen played some fantastic rallies near the finish and even saved two match chances, but his gallant effort was not enough to defeat the 32-year-old veteran.
