In the Indonesia Masters semi-final round, a rematch of a men’s singles classic happened, pitting world number one Viktor Axelsen against Indonesia’s favourite, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting. In their 11th meeting, Axelsen once again dominated the match, winning 21-15, 21-15 in straight games.
Ginting was unable to construct his own game plan during the 48-minute battle. Despite the enthusiastic encouragement of the Istora Senayan Jakarta crowd, the world number six was forced to concede victory to the European.
Axelsen will face Chou Tien Chen in the final match on Sunday as a result of his victory. After defeating the recently crowned World Champion, Loh Kean Yew, in a tense rubber game, the world number four from Chinese Taipei also advanced to the summit clash.
