2023 German Open men’s singles day 2 results, round-of-16 schedule, date, venue, fixtures, & second-round draw
In the German Open 2023 on Wednesday, Malaysian badminton standout Lee Zii Jia affirmed his No. 1 seeding with a facile 21-11, 21-5 victory over Magnus Johannesen of Denmark. Despite putting on a valiant performance, Johannesen was unable to gain a foothold in the fight due to his opponent’s effective combination of speed, power, and agility. His reward is a Round 2 matchup with Chia Hao Lee, who defeated Israeli shuttler Misha Zilberman 21-8, 21-11.
After falling to Frenchman Christo Popov in the men’s singles match on Wednesday in Mulheim, Indian ace Lakshya Sen unexpectedly crashed from the German Open in the initial round. During his first-round tie that lasted 46 minutes, sixth-seed Sen lost against French star Popov by score of 19-21, 16-21. Despite his best efforts, Mithun Manjunath was defeated by Singapore’s fourth-seeded Loh Kean Yew in the men’s singles first round 8-21, 21-19, 11-21.
