On Friday, Japanese shuttler Kento Momota defeated fellow countryman Nishimoto Kenta by scores of 15-21, 21-17, & 21-12 to qualify for the semi-final of the 2023 German Open. In the other quarterfinal matches, the fifth-seed Lu Guang Zu defeated Angus Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong in the opening set before withdrawing hurt in the second. Li Shi Feng defeated Lin Chun-Yi 23-20, 21-14, while Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong defeated Chia Hao Lee of Chinese Taipei by the same score-line.

2023 German Open: BWF points award system
The German Open winner will receive 7,000 BWF points, while the runner-up will receive about 5,950 points, according to BWF. Because they were outclassed during the quarterfinal of the competition, Lee Chia Hao and Lu Gunag Zu only received 3,850 BWF points.

2023 German Open: prize money distribution
It is known that a total of $210,000 is up for grabs at the German Open, which is a BWF Super 300 competition, with $15,750 going to the winners of each singles division. Additionally, the runner-up will receive $7,980 in prize money, and each semi-final loser will receive $3,045. Following Lu Guang Zu’s injury that forced him to withdraw, the fifth-seed will return home with rewards worth $1,260.
