2022 French Open Badminton Women’s Singles Results Today, Score, Winners, & Upcoming Draw
Saina Nehwal, the lone women’s singles representative for India in 2022 French Open, got her match against Yvonne Li off to a strong start by winning the first set by an eight-point margin. Li, however, fought back strongly and prevailed in the next two sets to secure the triumph with a final score of 13-21, 21-17, 21-19. India’s medal aspirations were dashed as a result of Saina Nehwal’s repeated poor performance, which saw her exit yet another competition in the very first round.
Akane Yamaguchi, the current world champion, defeated Canadian shuttler Michelle Li on the opening day of the French Open by scores of 21-8, 22-14 in just twenty-eight minutes. Another match saw sixth-seeded Nozomi Okuhara of Japan upset Spanish shuttler Azurmendi Moreno by scores of 21-14, 21-11 in straight sets. Okuhara will play Thai shuttler Chaiwan on Thursday during the second-round matches, and if she prevails, it’s likely that Yamaguchi, another countrywoman, will be her opponent in the quarterfinal.
During Tuesday’s remaining first-round matches, recently crowned Denmark Open champion He Bingjiao and Olympic champion Chen Yufei will play their respective ties in an effort to win this prestigious competition. Tickets can be bought from here.
