After dispatching Kenta Nishimoto in straight sets, top-seed Viktor Axelsen secured his berth in second-round of 2022 French Open. Similarly, former world champion Loh Kean Yew has also booked his place in Thursday’s second-round matches, where he will face Kanta Tsuneyama.

Yonex French Open, a prominent BWF World Tour 750 badminton tournament with a $675,000 prize pool, will be held at Stade Pierre de Coubertin in Paris, France, from October 25 through October 30. Since India’s top two shuttlers are set to square off against each other in a first-round encounter on Wednesday, this event is a must-see for badminton fans around the world.

2022 French Open Badminton Men’s Singles Results Today, Score, Winners, & Upcoming Draw

Viktor Axelsen, the current world champion, defeated Japanese shuttler Kenta Nishimoto in straight sets on the opening day of 2022 French Open with scores of 21-11, 22-20, thanks to a brilliant effort. In a separate match, the seventh-seeded Mark Calijouw of Netherlands was upset in straight sets by former world champion Loh Kean Yew,14-21, 17-21. Loh will compete against Kanta Tsuneyama in Thursday’s second-round game, and if he prevails, he’ll probably face top-seed Axelsen in the quarterfinal.

To set up a clash with Angus Ng Ka-Long in second round, eighth-seed Jonatan Christie dispatched Denmark’s Vittinghus in straight sets with score of 21-19, 21-14 in just 47 minutes. Meanwhile Japanese star Kodai Naraoka continued his superb form to defeat Canadian shuttler Brian Yang in straight sets to win 21-15, 21-18. During second-round matches, most-likely third-seeded Lee Zii Jia will be Naraoka’s opponent unless Rhustavito manages a miraculous performance to win against Lee.

Indian ace Lakshya Sen will take on compatriot Kidambi Srikanth in Wednesday’s first-round match of men’s singles competition at 2022 French Open. To begin his French Open campaign, in-form HS Prannoy, will meet Liew Daren in another encounter. Elsewhere, Sameer Verma will face-off against sixth-seeded Anthony Ginting in a difficult match-up. Points Award System

As per BWF Points System, 2022 French Open, which falls under list of BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament, will reward the winner of men’s singles competition with 11,000 BWF points and runner-up with 9,350 points. Denmark Open champion Shi Yuqi, former world champion Loh Kean Yew, and Indian ace Lakshya Sen all have fantastic chance to accumulate humongous total of BWF points from this competition and advance in BWF World Rankings.

Prize Money Pool Distribution

As per official BWF announcement, total prize pool for 2022 French Open will be $675,000 and from this amount, winner of men’s singles competition winner will receive $44,400. In addition, men’s singles runner-up will receive total of $20,400 compared to $8,400 prize money of each semi-finalist.
