2023 Badminton Asia Championships day 3 schedule, date, venue, fixtures, & second-round draw
Lakshya Sen, who won bronze at the World Championships, lost in the opening round of the Badminton Asia Championships in Dubai. In the men’s singles opening round, Lakshya had a challenging test against former world champion Loh Kean Yew, and the youthful shuttler was unable to get beyond the first obstacle in the continental championships. In the first round, Lakshya Sen was defeated by Loh Kean Yew 7-21, 21-23 in under 37 minutes.
In the women’s singles first round, 22-year-old Malavika Bansod battled valiantly against World No. 1 Akane Yamaguchi. Malavika, rated 42, and Yamaguchi engaged in a 46-minute duel. The southpaw suffered a devastating loss in the opening round, 23-25, 19-21. PV Sindhu of India advanced easily to the second round of the Badminton Asia Championships 2023 after defeating Wen Chi Hsu of Taiwan in a 46-minute match with a score of 21-15, 22-20.

2023 Badminton Asia Championships: prize money distribution
As per BWF regulations, each singles category winner of the 2023 Badminton Asia Championships will receive $30,000 from the $400,000 total prize fund. Additionally, the semi-final losers will only receive $5,800 while the singles runner-up will receive $15,200. The first-round losers of this competition including Malvika Bansod and Lakshya Sen will return home empty-handed.
