Lawsuit Against Matt Araiza
Legal action against Matt Araizaย was submitted on August 25 in California. Matt Araiza, Zavier Leonard, and Nowlin “Pa’a” Ewaliko are the main defendants in the case that was filed in San Diego County Superior Court over the alleged gang rape.
The claimed event happened at a Halloween celebration held at Matt Araiza’s former residence. Because, she was underage at the time when the event happened, the 18-year-old plaintiff is referred to as “Jane Doe” in the lawsuit.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the claims are the subject of a criminal investigation. In this instance, no arrests have been made so far. Additionally, no suspects have been made publically known by San Diego Police.
The Los Angeles Times was informed by Matt Araiza’s attorney that the allegations were false. The alleged rape occurred in 2021 beforeย the player joined the league, thus the NFL personal conduct standard will not apply to him.
The lady allegedly stated that Araiza provided her with a drink at the party that not only included alcohol, but additional intoxicating chemicals,ย according to the complaint.
She further stated that even after letting Araiza know she was a high school student and that he was aware of her evident drunkenness, he insisted that she have oral sex despite knowing that she was underage.
He allegedly also mentioned having an STD test on the teenager. According to The Daily Mail, the 22-year-old informed Jane Doe during a police-monitored phone call that she needed to be tested for chlamydia following an allegedย attack that left her bleeding and distraught.
