BTS concluded their tenth debut anniversary celebration, 2022 BTS FESTA, on June 14 by uploading a video in which they spoke up about the path they would be taking, their fears, and their individual endeavours. “Anyway, we’ve now entered an off period/off-season,” SUGA says in the video, while the English subtitles read “We’re going into a sabbatical now.” Following this, BigHit Music spoke on the matter, explaining what will happen next.
What Are The Official Statements
An HYBE statement states, “BTS is not taking a break.” At this moment, members will be concentrating on solo projects.” Following that, a BigHit Music official stated, “This is not a statement of suspension of activities, but a notification of individual projects for Chapter 2.”
After referring to their previous nine years as ‘Chapter 1’ in the lyrics of their new single ‘Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment),’ BTS will begin their second chapter by producing solo albums and projects in partnership with diverse artists. Individual projects of the members will be published progressively, and according to the previously mentioned official announcement, the first member will be J-Hope. J-Hope was also just revealed as one of the Lollapalooza 2022 headliners, with an hour-long concert slated for July 31, 2022. (August 1, IST).
Further, BTS will also be resuming their variety program ‘Run! BTS’. Starting this week, BTS’ music show performances for ‘Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)’, will also be aired.
What All Did the BTS Members Talk About?
The band members spoke out about their struggles to develop and progress as independent artists within the K-pop genre in a one-hour video posted on the band’s official YouTube channel.
“The issue with K-pop and the entire idol system is that it doesn’t give you time to mature,” RM explained.
BTS members are “slowly attempting to figure things out now,” according to singer Jimin, 26. “I guess that’s why we’re going through a hard phase right now,” he explained, adding that the group was “beginning to think about what type of artists we individually want to be remembered by our fans.”
With tears in his eyes, rapper J-Hope stated that “change is what we need right now,” but added that “it’s crucial for BTS to start our second chapter.” J-Hope is set to headline Lollapalooza on his own later this summer in Chicago.
By the conclusion of the dinner, several members of the group were in tears as they expressed their gratitude to ARMY, their online admirers.
The group has already discussed taking brief holidays, first in 2019 and then in December 2021. BTS was reportedly planning a large global tour, but the preparations were cancelled when the Covid-19 outbreak hit the world. BTS was scheduled to perform in several countries, including India.
BTS’s break comes only days after the release of their new album Proof,’ which contains new tracks ‘Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment),’ ‘Run BTS,’ and ‘For Youth.’
