Chairman Jon Lansdown commented on the decision to fire Pearson on the team’s website, saying that it was undoubtedly a tough call given how much Nigel had contributed to the team both on and off the field over the previous two and a half years.

“Nigel is well-respected by the staff and players. Moreover, he has also shown a great deal of support for our women’s team and the Academy system. Even though the club and all supporters wanted Nigel to fulfil the team’s dream of being promoted, in light of the recent outcomes, the club believed that a change was necessary to provide the team with the best opportunity of succeeding.”

John Eustace is the frontrunner for the next manager
Eustace hasn’t had a job since leaving the Blues at the start of October, even though the team is currently sixth in the rankings. Birmingham explained the abrupt change at the time, stating that it was crucial that the football management and the board of directors completely agreed on the significance of establishing an ambitious culture and winning attitude throughout the entire football club.
After leaving Millwall two weeks ago, Gary Rowett is now the second favourite at 5/2. Nathan Jones, the former manager of Luton, Southampton, and Stoke, rounds out the “frontrunners” at 6/1.
Jason Euell, Pearson’s first-team coach, and Dave Rennie, the head of medical performance, were also fired by Bristol City. Curtis Fleming will take over as temporary manager, while Ali Hines and Kalifa Cissé support him until a permanent replacement is found.
