Born on October 15, 1998, Brandon Connor Pfaadt is an American professional baseball pitcher who plays for the Arizona Diamondbacks in Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2023.
Pfaadt attended Trinity High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He played college baseball at the Bellarmine University. In 2019, he played in the collegiate summer baseball with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
Career
The Arizona Diamondbacks drafted Pfaadt in the fifth round of the 2020 Major League Baseball draft. Unfortunately, he couldn’t play in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He finally made his professional debut in 2021 with the Visalia Rawhide and was later promoted to the Hillsboro Hops and Amarillo Sod Poodles during the season. Across 22 starts with these teams, he achieved an 8–7 record with a 3.21 ERA and 160 strikeouts over 131+2⁄3 innings.
In 2022, over 29 starts split between Double-A Amarillo and the Triple-A Reno Aces, he posted an 11–7 record with a 3.83 ERA. He led the minor leagues in both innings pitched, with 167, and strikeouts, with 218.
Pfaadt began the 2023 season in Reno, where he recorded a 3.91 ERA with 30 strikeouts across 5 starts.
On May 3, 2023, Pfaadt received the honor of being selected for the 40-man roster and was promoted to the major leagues for the first time to serve as the starting pitcher in a game against the Texas Rangers.
