Dalaneo Martin, a 17-year-old who was driving a stolen car, was shot and killed by police in this video, which was released by the police
Park Police and the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, DC, showing officers entering a parked car on a residential street in response to a report of a car theft.
On March 18, Dalaneo Martin was sleeping in the driver’s seat when a police officer who didn’t identify himself woke him up to take him into custody. Martin got scared and started driving away without thinking, even though the cop was still in the back seat.

The police officer pointed his gun at the teen and told Dalaneo Martin to stop the car and let him out. Martin didn’t listen and kept driving. The cop then told them to stop or he would shoot them. In the end, he had to pull the gun’s trigger several times. Martin’s screams could be heard on the body cam film as he was shot dead. Then his car crashed into a nearby house.
Even though the cops tried to help Martin, they were not able to save his life. At the scene, the teen was said to be dead. The Park Police said that the cop who shot Dalaneo Martin and a second officer were both taken to a hospital for treatment.

In a statement, they said, “The investigation into this incident is being handled by the Metropolitan Police Department and reviewed by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. An administrative review of this incident is being conducted by the Department of the Interior.”

After getting medical care, the officers were put on administrative leave until an internal police review was finished. People are asking questions about how the cops used force and what led up to the shooting. The killing has also led to protests and calls for justice for Dalaneo Martin in Washington, D.C.
The U.S. Park Police and the D.C. Metropolitan Police are still looking into what happened, and they have asked anyone with knowledge to come forward. The shooting of Dalaneo Martin is a disaster.
