Prior to his death, Indian Body Builders Federation General Secretary Hiral Sheth recently stated that Sakharkar was suffering from certain health issues.
Ashish Sakharkar brief bio and education
Ashish Sakharkar was a famous Indian bodybuilder who was born on November 18, 1980. He obtained his education from St.Xavier’s High school in Mumbai and later attended Mumbai University where he obtained a degree in commerce. Interestingly, Shakharkar briefly worked as a chef after obtaining a diploma in hotel management.
Age and height
At the time of his passing, Ashish was 43 years old and stood at a height of 5’7”.
Cause of death
Reports state that Ashish was recently admitted to a hospital in south Mumbai just a week ago. He was admitted to do some health issues and eventually passed away on Wednesday late night after the prolonged illness.
Wife and kids
Ashish was a very devoted family man, and he was married to Runali Sakharkar, a homemaker. The couple share a son named Ayush. Ashish often shared photos of his son and their family on his Instagram.
Awards and achievements
As a body-builder, Ashish competed in the 80-Kg Category and won many titles and achievements throughout his career. His achievements include many national as well as international awards. Amongst his top titles include four ‘Mr. India’ titles, a ‘Mr. Universe’ Silver and Bronze medal each. Besides those, the Maharashtra government also conferred the Shiv Chhatrapati Award to Ashsih Shakharkar.
Survived by his wife and a son, Sakharkar’s last rites shall be performed this evening, details of which are not immediately available.
Tributes and condolence messages
Following the tragic demise of Ashish Sakharkar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde publicly mourned the loss of the former bodybuilder. He acknowledged all the fame that Ashish brought to the country and stated that his passing would cause an irreparable loss to the body-building community.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray also expressed his grief over Sakharkar’s demise, while offering condolences to his family. Aside from them, thousands of fans have taken to social media to mourn the death of Sakharkar. Some fans even went to the extent of calling it the end of an era for body-building in the state.
