The departure of Appleton was initially reported by John Percy at Bloomfield Road. The club is currently 23rd in the Championship with 26 points after 27 games. He only lasted seven months the second time around, but exits with his team sitting at 0-10 in the league.

After his team lost 2-0 at Watford, Michael Appleton noted that they needed to do a better job of capitalising on scoring chances. After Neil Critchley left to become Steven Gerrard’s assistant at Aston Villa, the club brought in Appleton in the summer before last.
