A documentary about Raptors fan and Canadian businessman Nav Bhatia had just premiered on CBC and now, a new movie, Superfan is also being made. Bhatia was the first fan to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the first fan to get an official NBA Championship ring.

Bhatia first came to Canada in 1984 to escape the anti-Sikh riots in Delhi. Despite his engineering training, he struggled to find work and began his career as a car salesperson until eventually taking over the dealership.
Before the COVID-19 epidemic forced teams into the bubble, the Superfan had attended every Toronto Raptors home game in the franchise’s 25-year history. Bhatia now leads the SuperFan Foundation, which attempts to bring people from all walks of life together through their shared passion for sports.
Basketball is one of the biggest passion for him, and he spends more than $300,000 a year to provide tickets to Raptors games for youngsters from across Canada.
Nav Bhatia Superfan Movie Cast, Producer, Story, Release Date
Actor Kal Penn, widely known for his role in Harold & Kumar, will produce and star in Stampede Ventures’ new biopic called Superfan.
Greg Silverman and Jon Berg of Stampede Ventures are looking for a writer and director for the biography, which they will produce alongside Penn and Industry Entertainment’s Dan Spilo. Rinku Ghei of Yellow Mango Films will join the three as an executive producer.
Superfan Release Date
Penn’s next movie has yet to be given a release date. Keep an eye out for more information. CBC had released an unconnected documentary also named Superfan which told the story of Bhatia’s life but in documentary style.

What Happened At The Recent Raptors’ Game
While Nav Bhatia elected to watch the game from home after being exposed to COVID-19 last weekend, Hollywood actor Kal Penn, who will play Bhatia in the upcoming film Superfan, was in attendance.
When the Raptors played (and beat) the New York Knicks at Scotiabank Arena, Bhatia’s seat was empty, but Penn praised Bhatia for bringing him to the game.
