BCCI Unhappy With Virat Kohli With His Captaincy On The Line In ODIs As Well According To Reports

Virat Kohli has resigned as India’s T20 captain following the World Cup next month along with the captaincy of RCB and him being the ODI captain is quite uncertain as well

Officials at the BCCI have deduced that Kohli intends to keep his limited-overs captaincy until the 2023 World Cup. Nevertheless, it is firmly learned that this will not occur because Kohli has alienated more people in recent times, including players, support staff, national recruiters, and, last but not least, the selectors.

Was it an impulsive decision from Virat Kohli to leave the T20 captaincy?

Kohli has discussed at length with current coach Ravi Shastri, who will leave at the end of the T20 World Cup, and now will focus on his initial goal of surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 international hundreds. It will be impossible for him to reach 50 Test hundreds, but with 44 in ODIs, he is well on his way to breaking the records.

Virat Kohli has in the aftermath of stepping down as Team India’s T20 captain also gone onto relinquish his RCB captaincy with him set to leave the position after IPL 2021.

What do the reports say about his ODI captaincy

However, according to insiders, Kohli proposed to the selection panel that Rohit be replaced from the ODI vice-captaincy because he is 34 years old. He preferred K L Rahul to take over as ODI vice-captain, with Rishabh Pant in the T20 category.

For the time being, the BCCI and Selectors have chosen to offer Rohit Sharma the T20 leadership, with Pant, Rahul, and Bumrah competing for T20 vice-captaincy. As per reports, the BCCI has narrowed down Rohit Sharma for the ODI captaincy and will choose the T20 World Cup.

Was workload the true reason?

Although workload management is an adequate reason to retire from T20 captaincy, Kohli would only command India in roughly 20 international T20 games between now and 2023, excluding the World Cup. So, don’t be shocked if the Board chooses to relieve Kohli of his 50-over captaincy in the coming years. In Indian cricket, circumstances change faster than anyone could ever keep up with it. In a trophy-less T20 World Cup, Kohli may be forced to play 50-over cricket as a pure batsman.

All is not well in the cricketing world at the moment. We all hope that nothing affects the T20 World Cup; it should be the top priority for now.
