BCCI Annual Awards Function 2024
The details for the 2024 BCCI Annual Awards function have been unveiled, with reports indicating that the event is slated for January 23, 2024.
In contrast, the previous edition occurred on January 13, 2020. The choice of Hyderabad as the venue is strategic, aligning with the proximity of the first Test match between India and England.
The last BCCI Annual Awards function took place on January 13, 2020, where outstanding performers from the 2018-19 cricket season were recognized.
Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian fast bowler, received the prestigious Polly Umrigar Award for Best International Cricketer in the men’s category. Meanwhile, Poonam Yadav was honored with the Best International Cricketer – Women award.
Notably, former Indian batsman Krishnamachari Srikkanth secured the Col. C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award in the Men’s category, while Anjum Chopra received the BCCI Lifetime Achievement Award in the Women’s category.
The upcoming BCCI Annual Awards function is poised to rejuvenate this tradition, taking place in Hyderabad on January 23, just before the commencement of the India-England Test series on January 25.
With the cricketing world eagerly anticipating this event, it serves as a platform to acknowledge and celebrate the exceptional contributions of cricketers, embodying excellence, dedication, and passion for the sport.
In a communication to the BCCI’s Apex Council members, Board Secretary Jay Shah expressed gratitude for the continuous support to Indian cricket, inviting participation as a testament to backing Indian cricket and recognizing the remarkable achievements of cricketing heroes, both seasoned and emerging.
As the event is being hosted after a long time, the list of award winners is expected to be long with 25 people honoured back in 2020.
