BCCI Conducts Two Intra Squad Matches For Indian Team Ahead OF England vs India Test Series
The Indian Test team will regroup in Durham in 15 days to prepare for the five-Test series, according to reports, and will play two intra-squad games at Durham’s Riverside Ground before departing for Nottingham. While the BCCI was in talks with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to secure two encounters against county sides, the BCCI was unable to do so because of Covid-19 and the need to maintain the bio-bubble.
Warm-up Games Weren’t Initially Planned
Their schedule is unchanged as far as we would be concerned. They will hold a camp in Durham beginning July 15 and will compete in two four-day intra-squad matches with their extensive playing squad. The ECB official told TOI, “We don’t expect this to change.”
After the devastating loss, Virat Kohli bemoaned the lack of practice matches. This could, however, be due to the UK’s stringent Covid-19 rules. Even if India had pleaded, they couldn’t have played a warm-up game.
We worked out a deal with the British authorities to allow them to train while quarantined. According to a team source, other red nation immigrants are subjected to tight quarantine, which includes a daily 20-minute walk in a parking lot.
