Órla Baxendale’s death

The tragic incident occurred at a gathering in Connecticut where Órla Baxendale consumed the ill-fated cookie, leading to an allergic reaction. The repercussions extended beyond her individual tragedy when it was revealed that the Vanilla Florentine Cookies, sold between November 6 and December 31 of the previous year, contained undeclared peanuts and omitted information about the presence of eggs.

Following the revelation, the cookies were promptly removed from store shelves, and a recall was issued. However, discrepancies emerged between Stew Leonard’s and Cookies United regarding the absence of a peanut warning on the packaging. The state Department of Consumer Protection also reported the absence of egg information on the label, adding another layer of concern to the situation.

In the wake of this devastating loss, a memorial service was held in New York City last Thursday, bringing together family, friends, and members of the global dance community to celebrate Órla’s life and mourn her passing. Her legacy, described as one of magic and artistry, lives on through the memories she created and the infectious zest for life she shared with those around her.
