BAM has gone onto dispel all reports of top badminton player Lee Zii Jia quitting the association
The last week has seen the badminton fraternity riddled with news of world number 7 player, Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia looking to quit the country’s official badminton association. It was reported that the country’s top male shuttler is looking to exit the land of the Badminton Association of Malaysia to continue his journey as a professional player.
BAM Refutes Claims Of Top Player Lee Zii Jia Wanting To Quit
However, BAM has now gone onto quash all such reports with the association affirming that Lee was committed to staying them with secretary-general Datuk Kenny Goh saying he was unaware of any such reports. It was also claimed that Lee would be receiving a colossal sponsorship upon leaving BAM.
“His determination and vision remains the same as the leading national men’s singles player of the country. He is 100% focused on Paris 2024,” Datuk said.
Lee who had won the 2021 All England championships endured a massively inconsistent 2021 with the tailend of the year seeing him reeling under the brunt of injuries.
BAM is scheduled to meet all the national badminton players after the onset of 2022 ensuing a coaching reshuffle which saw Wong at the helm of the men’s singles docket.
Indonesian Rexy Mainaky who was previously the deputy coaching director will head the doubles unit.
