On Sunday in Dubai, the reigning champions China defeated South Korea 3-1 to retain the Badminton Asia Mixed Team championship. Liu Shengshu & Tan Ning’s victory in the women’s doubles match allowed China to clinch the victory despite playing without the majority of their top players. China defeated South Korea easily in the championship match after edging Malaysia and India by a score of 3-2 in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively. Lei Lanxi defeated Lee Yun-gyu to win the first match of final by score of 21-16, 21-15 to give his country the lead.

By overcoming Kim Ga-eun 21-15, 21-15 in the women’s singles match, Gao Fangjie doubled China’s lead and claimed another significant victory. However, the South Korean pair of Kim Won-ho & Na Sung-seung defeated He Jiting & Zhou Haodong by a score of 19-21, 21-16, 21-17 in the men’s doubles to keep Korean hopes alive. In response, China won the women’s doubles match 21-11, 21-10 to retain the title and prove themselves as one of the best teams ahead of the 2023 Sudirman Cup.

While the tournament’s prize money isn’t known, the badminton Asia Championships offers the following prize money.

The winner of the singles get a cash prize of $30,000 whereas the finals get the cash prize of $15,200 and the semi-finalists of $5,800 whereas the quarterfinalist of $2,400. The last 16 receive the cash prize of $1,400.

The doubles winner get a prize of $31,600 and the doubles finals $5,600. The quarter-finalist get the cash prize of $2,900 and team in the last 16 get the cash prize of $1,500.
