2023 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships: India vs UAE result, winner, standings, score, & match summary
During their second group-stage match of the 2023 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships, India defeated the hosts UAE 5-0 for claiming a whitewash victory. In the opener, Lakshya Sen earned straight-set victory by score of 21-16, 21-12 against Dev Vishnu to give his country, the much-needed lead. Later, Aakarshi Kashyap doubled India’s lead with an explosive 21-6, 21-7 victory versus Madhumitha Sundarapandian in the women’s singles match.
To make it 3-0 in India’s favor, the mixed doubles team of Ishaan Bhatnagar & Tanisha Crasto defeated Bharath Latheesh & Nayonika Rajesh of the UAE 21-13, 21-8. Meanwhile, the local pair of Sanika Dhawan Gurav & Akansha Raj were defeated by Ashwini Bhat & Shikha Gautam in another straight-set victory for India. India ultimately won their tie against UAE with a perfect score of 5-0.
Following their consecutive victories, India are sitting at the top of the group but, are scheduled to face-off against Malaysia on Thursday with the group’s supremacy at stake. Currently, Malaysia are sitting on second-place due to inferior point difference despite having earned the maximum points.
