Kidambi Srikanth, a silver medalist in the World Championships, was eliminated in the Round of 16 of the 2022 Asian Badminton Championships in Manilla, Philippines, on Thursday. The Indian shuttler was unable to recover after pushing the match to the decider, losing 16-21, 21-17, 17-21 in an hour and 17 minutes against qualifier Yang Weng Hong of China.
The Indian men’s singles campaign at the major continental competition came to an early end with Kidambi Srikanth’s exit. Lakshya Sen, the 5th seed who was supposed to lead the country’s campaign, was knocked out in the first round by Li Shi Feng 12-21, 21-10, 21-19.
