Verstappen’s triumph in France saw him ease ahead in the standings with him holding a slender but crucial four point lead at the moment ahead of the Azerbaijan GP

Despite being one of the most consistent and flawless driver in the land of the Formula 1, Max Verstappen was failing to get his hands around top spot in the Championship rankings. However, his unbridled appetite for achieving the elusive position saw him win the Monaco Grand Prix.

The bygone race in the ongoing edition of the Formula saw Max Verstappen take a four point lead to make massive strides in the rankings. While the season still has a long race to run, for the Red Bull driver, the Monaco F1 win was a testament to his ability to challenge for the glistening title.

Vettel Speaks Ahead Of The Azerbaijan GP

Four time world championship, Sebastian Vettel spoke about what the win meant for Verstappen. Talking ahead of the Azerbaijan GP this weekend, Vettel said the triumph would have offered Verstappen with solace and the knowledge that his car is capable of giving a searing headache to Mercedes.

 “I think if you are in contention then that is the main thing that gives you peace of mind,” Vettel said.

“You know that you have got a good car, you’ve got a good team around you and you can get the job done.

“Obviously if you are ahead, you want to make sure that you finish in front of whoever is behind you and increase the gap but, as I said, it is still very early. It is only five races so we still have a lot to come.

Sebastian Vettel Talks About Aston Martin

Vettel was quick to assert though that a lead at this stage of the campaign meant extremely little in the long scheme of things.

Vettel meanwhile also talked about his soiree with the Aston Martin and what his side’s chances were this season. Vettel had recorded his first points with Aston Martin at the Monaco GP last week after ending up in fifth position.

While the German was pleased about the finish, he was quick to hammer home the point of being unsure whether it would be sailing from now onwards.
