2022 Australian Open Badminton Men’s Singles Results Today, Score, Winners, & Round of 16 Draw
Lee Zii Jia is one step closer to qualifying for 2022 World Tour Finals, which will conclude the badminton season next month. On Wednesday, Malaysian ace Lee easily dispatched Rio Agustino by score of 21-9, 21-11 to qualify for second-round at Australian Open. During this match, top-seeded Lee dominated from very start and never really seemed in trouble against inexperienced Rio. This victory sets up a tantalizing matchup between Lee and China’s Lu Guang Zu, who is now in eighth place of World Tour rankings and might qualify automatically for next month’s World Tour Finals in Thailand.
Elsewhere, second-seeded former world champion Loh Kean Yew defeated local favorite Pit Low in straight-set by score of 21-10, 21-9 to qualify for next round. Meanwhile, Kanta Tsuneyama surprisingly lost against Denmark Open winner Shi Yuqi in straight-sets. Following these results, Loh and Lee are the only seeded players left in men’s singles competition.
