On Sunday, Chinese shuttler Lu Guangzu gave his best against Shi Yuqi, but his efforts fell short as Yuqi secured 21-19, 18-21, 21-15 victory after an intense clash. In this clash between two fellow Chinese shuttlers, Yuqi won first-set before Guangzu won the next to tie score. However, Shi Yuqi dominated his rival in decider to win 21-5 and clinch title. Elsewhere, women’s singles final saw top-seed An Se-young emerge as champion after her straight-set victory against Hylo Open champion Gregoria Mariska Tunjung by score of 21-17, 21-9.

During women’s doubles final, unseeded Thai pair Benyapa Aimsaard & Nuntakarn Aimsaard suffered straight-set loss against sixth-seeded Chinese duo Zhang Shuxian & Zheng Yu after an intense summit clash, which ended with final score of 21-19, 21-13 in the Chinese pair’s favor. Meanwhile, Malaysian duo Ong Yew Sin & Teo Ee Yi, who are ranked No. 8 in the world, came up just short of winning their first championship in almost three years on Sunday in Sydney, finishing as runners-up instead. Yew Sin & Ee Yi battled valiantly before falling to Ou Xuan Yi & Liu Yu Chen of China in 44 minutes, by score of 16-21, 20-22.

Meanwhile, top-seed An Se-young will receive 7,000 BWF points for winning the Australian Open women’s singles competition. The overall prize purse for 2022 Australian Open will be $180,000 once all awards have been made in compliance with BWF regulations.
