2023 Australian Open Women’s Singles: Seeded Players & List of Participants
2023 Australian Open’s women’s singles entry list is headed by world No. 1 Iga Swiatek, who will be eager to win her fourth Grand Slam of career and maiden title in Australian Open. At next year’s Australian Open. total of 13 former Grand Slam winners are competing with reigning US Open & French Open Champion Swiatek headlining the event beginning from 16th January in Melbourne.
In the women’s singles, three former Australian Open champions will compete including Naomi Osaka, Victoria Azarenka, & Sofia Kenin. However, reigning champion Ashleigh Barty has announced her retirement from professional tennis and hence, she won’t defend her title in 2023.
With the exception of Simona Halep, who is currently on a temporary suspension, 19 of the Top 20 players in the world are entered. One of 11 players utilizing a special ranking to join the main draw is Kenin, who is presently ranked No. 240 and on the return trail following an injury-plagued season. The final contestant to be admitted directly to the main draw is Ysaline Bonaventure, who is ranked 95th in WTA rankings. In the event of withdrawals, Harriet Dart, Kateryna Baindl, Dayana Yastremska, Alycia Parks, & Anna Karolina Schmiedlova would be the next five competitors.
