The Czech top-seeded pair of Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova got crowned with the Women’s Doubles winners trophy at Melbourne Park defeating Anna and Beatriz Haddad.
Anna and Beatriz managed to dominate the Czechs in a tie-break. The Czech duo dropped the first set before they beat the opponents with a 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 6-4 victory. The pair with the trophy at the Rod Laver Arena add the fourth major trophy in the doubles category together.
The first doubles title they won was at the Roland Garros tournament in the year 2018 and 2021. The duo has won two French Open doubles titles. The third one is the Wimbledon doubles title in 2018 the year they won the French Open doubles as well.
2022 Australian Open doubles title in their first Grand Slam doubles title in Melbourne, adding to their growing number of majors.
“We were fighting hard to get the Australian one. So it’s just really exciting and super happy,” said Siniakova in a post-match interview with the Australian Open.
