There were a lot of high hopes for a unique conclusion to the Attack on Titan final season anime. It also lends a greater and better perspective to the series, especially given the concepts it was trying to communicate.

The conclusion of the Attack on Titan anime differed significantly from that of the manga, especially with regard to the most divisive elements of the story. While it didn’t change much overall, it did help flesh out some scenes, notably those involving Eren, and smooth over some plot aspects that were confusing or awkward in the manga.

One interpretation of the Attack on Titan anime’s conclusion is that it’s an attempt to make amends for flaws in Hajime Isayama’s original manga. Some parts, notably the famed Eren moment with Armin where he breaks down and exposes his affections for Mikasa, were smoothed a bit to make them more acceptable for the public. The supplementary material fell short of the expectations of most viewers.

Falco and Gabi’s scene when they plant seeds at the end of the episode is one example of a new scene. The purpose of this new scenario is to further drive home the story’s core teachings about the value of peace and how resorting to violence is never the best course of action, no matter how much hardship one faces in real life.

The time spent by Eren and Mikasa in the cabin, in particular, was expanded. Even though Eren still sobs at the end, the dialog between him and Armin is much more constructed than it is in the manga.

People in MAPPA were trying to repair Armin’s infamous comments about his friend being a mass murderer. So they stretched out the scene to make it more believable.

The finale also includes a bombing of Paradis. While this wasn’t a major deviation from the manga, it may have a greater impact on readers if they truly witness the repercussions of Eren’s actions on screen.
