The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics has finally come to an end after its two-week-long campaign, know about the athletes with the most medal and records broken
During this edition of the 2022 Winter Games, we witnessed some rising athletes and some legends of the star etching their names in the history books.
Winter Olympics 2022 Medal Tally And Count
During this edition of the 2022 Beijing Winter Games, Norway continued to remain in their dominant position as they concluded the 2022 Games with overall 37 medals which include 16 gold medals, 8 Silver Medals, and 13 bronze medals. Not only this, but they also etched their name into the history books by entering the record of most Winter Olympic medals of all time with 368 medals in total.
The United States came in the fifth position with 25 medals which included 8 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and seven bronze. Team USA is on the equal tally with Sweden and Netherlands for the fourth-most gold medals and also, are on the equal tally with Germany for the second-most silver medals.
Winter Beijing Olympics 2022 Most Medals And Records Made By Athletes
- THERESE JOHAUG- NORWAY: CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING – Johaug won the medal by a very short margin in her shortest with 0.4 seconds in the 10km, as her competent, the bronze medallist was only 31.5 seconds behind. Johaug secured the opening round of 15km skiathlon by 30.2 seconds which is greater than the margin that separated her second place from seventh place. Johaug wrote her name in the record books by having the fastest split of the 35 women who completed classic legs.
- EILEEN GU – CHINA: FREESTYLE SKIING- She etched her name into the records by being the youngest Olympic gold medallist at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics at the freestyle skiing at the young age of 18. Eileen etched her name into the history books by becoming the first freestyle skier to secure three medals at one Olympics. Gu clinched her last gold medal at her last big air run and silver during her last slopestyle run. She created the best winning margin in the halfpipe. But her best event that brought her to the limelight and more popularity was the largest in the event’s short Olympic history for men or women ever since 2014.
- GABRIELLA PAPADAKIS/GUILLAUME CIZERON- FRANCE: FIGURE SKATING- Papadakis and Cizeron were among the dominant pairs in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. The due got the nod as they etched their name in the sporting history by breaking the world record for a total score. The dominant pair of Papadakis and Cizeron broke the ice dance total record by 0.37 secured the medal by 6.47 points which have to be the largest margin in ice dance history under the scoring system in place since 2006.
- MARTE OLSBU ROEISELAND – NORWAY: BIATHLON- She secured 3 gold and 2 bronze medals in 6 events. Marte clinched two of her individual gold medals by large margins of 30.9 seconds and 96.5 seconds respectively. Not only this, but also she had the fastest time on each of her two relay legs. Though she could not reach the final for shooting sessions, that’s how the biathlon is, she still made it to the podium each and every time.
- FRANCESCO FRIEDRICH/THORSTEN MARGIS- GERMANY: BOBSLED – They clinched 2 gold medals in 2 events during the mega 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Friedrich was on the lead of German two- and four-man bobsleds and, he paved the way to the gold medals as well, along with Margis in the sled during both the events. Friedrich etched his name into the record books by becoming the second driver during the last 38 years who won the two- and four-man outright at one Olympics.
- IRENE SCHOUTEN- NETHERLANDS: SPEED SKATING –Irene won 3 gold and1 bronze in 4 events. She had her best overall performance on the oval which began with Olympic records in both of her races against the clock of 3000m and 5000m respectively. Schouten after all the problems bounced back stronger to clinch the huge where she started displaying the best mix of versatility and stamina in only single Olympics Games appearance in speed skating.
- SARAH NURSE- CANADA: HOCKEY – Sarah nurse, who is representing Canada secured 1 gold to her name in one event. In that single event, her teammate Brianne Jenner was named the tournament MVP. Marie-Philip Poulin, who scored twice during the semi-final as well as during the finals, but there has been an argument for Sarah that she had the most tournament points to her name even after her playing time fewer than Jenner and Poulin, which led all forwards in plus-minus and had a slightly higher faceoff percentage than Jenner.
