She won the women’s 400m hurdles five times at the national level (2016, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2022). Prior to her death, she was the defending national champion in the women’s 400m hurdles, which she successfully defended in 2022. She was a member of the Sri Lankan military.

Career
She won a silver medal in the women’s 400m hurdles event at the 2014 Asian Junior Athletics Championships, which were held in Taipei.
During the 2016 National Athletics Championships, she won gold in the women’s 400m hurdles event, which was also her first national title, and she was named the best hurdler in the competition. During the 2016 National Sports Festival, she also won gold in the women’s 400m hurdles.
At the 2016 South Asian Games, she made her South Asian Games debut, representing Sri Lanka. She went on to win her first South Asian Games medal, a bronze medal in the women’s 400m hurdles, in her debut participation in the Games.
At the 2017 National Championships, she successfully defended and won her second national title.
She also competed in the 2019 South Asian Games for Sri Lanka, winning two medals in the multi-sport event, including gold in the women’s 4x400m relay team event (together with Omaya Udayangani, Gayanthika Abeyratne, and Dilshi Kumarasinghe) and silver in the women’s 400m hurdles. In 2019, she set a new personal best of 58.16 seconds. At the 2019 National Athletics Championships, she won her third national title in the women’s 400m hurdles.
During the 2021 National Athletics Championships, she won the national title in the women’s 400m hurdles for the fourth time.
She also won the women’s 400m hurdles category at the 100th National Athletics Championships in April 2022, clocking 58.73 seconds and became the fifth woman to do so.

Death And Reason
Madushani was awarded the Glucolin Challenge Trophy for best hurdler on April 23, 2022, one day before her death. It was in appreciation of her outstanding efforts at the 2022 National Athletics Championship. She died on April 24, 2022, at the age of 26 in her home in Dummalasuriya.
Her death was ruled a suicide by the Kuliyapitiya Police Division, and she was discovered hanging inside her home.
