Nipon Goswami, a well-known and seasoned actor from Assam, passed away on Thursday morning at Nemcare Hospital in Guwahati.

On Monday, the Diwali holiday, the actor’s condition deteriorated. Soon, after this, he was taken right away to the hospital. The physicians kept an eye on him while he was in the ICU. However, he succumbed to his poor health and left this world for his after-life journey.

Who Was Nipon Goswami?

Nipon Goswami was a well-known Indian actor renowned for his work in the Assamese film industry. He has been in the news because he passed away recently.

On September 3, 1942, he was born in Kolibari, Tezpur, Assam. His father’s name is Chandradhar Goswami who was a famous actor and his mother’s name is Nirupama Goswami who was a singer.

Nipon Goswami attended Kolibari LP School for his elementary education. He then transferred to the Tezpur Government High School. After earning his B.A. degree, he went on to attend FTII Pune.

He was married to Rangita. He also had a son named Siddharth Goswami.

He passed away on October 27, 2022. He died at the age of 75.

His Career

Nipun Goswami made his film debut in 1957 as a child actor in the Phani Sarma-directed film “Piyali Phukan.” His first Assamese film as a lead actor was “Sangram,” which was a huge success.

He gained fame with his subsequent film, “Dr. Bezbaruah,” which was released in 1969, and went on to feature in other films during the following years. He performed in a few Hindi films as a character actor as well.

Apart from this, he was also involved in “Abaahan,” “Kohinoor,” “Hengul,” and “Shakuntala,” four mobile theatres. Additionally, he had brief television appearances in shows like “Writu aahe writu jaai.”
