The Indian team will be led by veteran players Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra at the Asian Table Tennis Championships 2023, which will be held in Pyeongchang, Republic of Korea, from September 3 to 10.

The 26th edition of the continental championships serves as a trial for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Each of the male and female team event champions as well as the mixed doubles champion will earn a ticket at the Summer Games next year.
The men’s India team is seeded third while the women’s team is fifth at the Pyeongchang table tennis competition. Men’s, women’s, men’s doubles, and women’s doubles competitions will all be part of the Asian Table Tennis Championships. Each of the seven events will receive a medal.
There are five men and as many women on India’s 10-member team. Sharath Kamal, 41, and World No. 61 Harmeet Desai in men’s singles table tennis rankings, are among them. Harmeet is the only other Indian player in the top 100.
The top-ranked women’s singles player from India right now is Manika Batra, who is ranked 36th in the world. Only one other Indian woman is in the top 100, Sreeja Akula, who is ranked 85th in the world. Perhaps the mixed doubles is India’s best chance. The eighth-ranked team in the world is Manika Batra and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran.
Since the Asian Table Tennis Championships began in 1952, India has only taken home four bronze medals. Three of these were won at the previous edition in Doha. There were two for the men’s doubles team and one for the men’s team.
