On Saturday, the Indian women’s volleyball team began their Asian Games campaign on a disappointing note after suffering a 1-3 defeat against North Korea in their opening match. Although India managed to secure the first set, they were unable to maintain their momentum and eventually succumbed to North Korea with set scores of 25-23, 22-25, 17-25, & 16-25. The Pool A contest, which lasted for one hour and 53 minutes at the Deqing Sports Centre in Gymnasium, saw North Korea’s Hyonju Kim shine as the standout performer, contributing a total of 30 points, while India’s Soorya led her team with a maximum of 18 points in the match.
