2023 Asian Games squash latest results, schedule, date, venue, & key Indian players
In the Asian Games 2023 squash competitions, Joshna Chinappa’s journey in the women’s singles squash event came to an end as she lost 1-3 (4-11, 12-10, 9-11, 8-11) to Mingyeong Heo. Notably, Joshna Chinappa, a 37-year-old veteran in Indian squash, had previously won a singles bronze medal in the 2018 Asian Games. On the other hand, Tanvi Khanna, the other Indian representative in the women’s singles, advanced to the quarter-finals with a convincing 3-0 (11-1, 11-3, 11-2) victory over Thailand’s Arichaya Chujit. During the quarter-final matches scheduled for Tuesday, Tanvi will face Japan’s Satomi Watanabe.
In the men’s singles category, Saurav Ghosal made a strong start by securing a 3-0 (11-4, 11-4, 11-6) victory over Kuwait’s Ammar Al Tamimi, earning a spot in the quarter-finals. During the next round, Saurav Ghosal will compete against Japan’s Ryunosuke Tsukue, who defeated India’s Mahesh Mangaonkar 3-0 (11-6, 11-2, 11-6) in the pre-quarterfinals on Tuesday.
In the mixed doubles category, Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh, representing India, achieved their third consecutive victory in Pool D. They secured a 2-0 win against the Thai pair of Anantana Prasertratanakul and Arkaradet Arkarahirunya. Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu will participate in their third mixed doubles match in Pool A on Tuesday.
