Following their humongous 10-2 win against Pakistan at the 2023 Asian Games, Indian men’s hockey team extended their win streak to four matches in the ongoing competition. On Monday, India will face-off against Bangladesh in their last group game and if they avoid defeat, India will qualify for the quarterfinal as Group-A winners.

In their fourth hockey match of the 2023 Asian Games held at Gongshu Canal Sports Park Stadium, the Indian men’s hockey team achieved a resounding victory, defeating Pakistan with a score of 10-2. Harmanpreet Singh, the captain of the Indian team, emerged as the star of the match, scoring four goals (11′, 17′, 33′, 34′). Mandeep Singh (8′), Sumit (30′), Varun Kumar (41′, 54′), Shamsher Singh (46′), & Lalit Upadhyay (49′) contributed to the remaining six goals. Meanwhile, Pakistan managed to score two consolation goals, courtesy of Muhammad Khan (38′) and Abdul Rana (45′).

This triumph not only secured India’s dominant position atop the Pool A hockey standings but also marked their fourth consecutive win in the tournament. Japan and Pakistan stand in second and third place, respectively, each accumulating nine points. This historic match marked the 180th encounter between India and Pakistan in men’s hockey history, with India now holding 66 victories compared to Pakistan’s 82.
