Just recently, the Indian rowing contingent managed to win 2 Silver and 3 Bronze medals at the ongoing Asian games 2023 at Hangzhou, China.

Previously, India set their best medal-tally of 5 medals back in 2010 when they won 1 Gold, 3 Silver, and 1 Bronze.

Interestingly, India achieved its best-ever rowing medal tally on both occasions in events which China hosted. Despite missing out on winning a gold medal this edition, India improved significantly from previous its performance in the previous edition, where they secured 3 medals – 1 Gold and 2 Bronze.

Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls

India won its first medal in rowing this year in the Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls event. Indian rowers Arvind Singh and Arjun Lal Jat secured the silver medal with a remarkable finish of 6:21:18. They came in close behind the winning Chinese team.

Men’s Coxless Pair

The Indian rowing team secured its second batch of medals in the men’s Coxless Pair where Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram secured the bronze medal with a timing of 6:50:41.

Men’s Coxed Eight

Meanwhile, India secured its third medal in the Men’s Coxed Eight event, where the team secured the Silver medal after finishing with a timing of 5:43:01. The team narrowly missed out on winning the gold behind China. The Indian team featured Naresh Kulwaniya, Neetish Kumar, Charanjeet Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar, Ashish, and Dhananjay Pande.

Men’s Coxless Four

India won its fourth medal win at the Men’s Coxless Four after Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar, and Ashish, secured the bronze medal after finishing 6:10:81.

Men’s Quadruple Sculls

Finally, the Indian rowing won their fifth and final medal in the Men’s Quadruple Sculls event. The event featured a team consisting of Satnam Singh, Parminder Singh, Jakar Khan, and Sukhmeet Singh. The team won the bronze medal after finishing with a timing of 6:08:61.
