The Indian badminton players begin their campaign today, Thursday with the team events. India have so far bagged only ten badminton medals in Asian Games history. Moreover, India have not won any medal in the men’s team event since Seoul 1986. As such, the Indian men’s team will be looking to end a 37-year-long medal drought.
HS Prannoy will lead the Indian men’s team while two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu will lead the Indian women’s team. Some notable women’s players include Malvika Bansod, Ashmitha Chaliha, Anupama Upadhyaya, and doubles pairs Ashwini Ponnappa/Tanisha Crasto and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela/Treesa Jolly.
