Ashwini Ponnappa was born on the 18th of September in the year 1989 and presently her age is 32 years. Ashwini hails from Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Ashwini Ponnappa completed her studies at St. Francis Xavier Girls High School of Bangalore and her higher education at St. Mary’s College in Hyderabad.
Ashwini’s father was also a former hockey player for India. Although, Ashwini Ponnappa preferred the sport of badminton over hockey and started training for badminton. Later, in the year 2017, she married a businessman and former model Karan Medappa. She is coached by Tom John.

At the Commonwealth Games, she bagged a gold medal in the year 2018 by playing at Gold Coast in the mixed team category. Ashwini won gold in the year 2010 at the Women’s doubles held in Delhi as well. She received a silver medal in the year 2014 at Glasgow in the Women’s doubles.
