The former US defense secretary, passed away on Monday night, October 24 at the age of 68.
The tragic news of his demise was confirmed by his family via releasing a statement.

As per the statement released by his family on Oct 25th, 2022, the 25th secretary of defense passed away after a sudden cardiac arrest.
Ashton Carter is survived by his wife Stephanie, and his children Will and Ava, whom he had shared with his first wife Clayton Spencer.
Carter had served as the defense secretary under Former President Barack Obama from February 2015 to January 2017.
As per a report by DailyMail, Carter who started his career as physicist switched his career to public policy.
During President Clinton’s first term from 1993 to 1996, Carter served as an Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Policy.
At the time, he was responsible for making policy related to former Soviet States, Strategic Affairs and Nuclear Weapons.
He even oversaw the start of a military campaign which later pushed back to the Islamic military group in Syria and Iraq. The campaign managed to destroy the organization.
However, Ash left the public sector to supervise Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard’s Kennedy School.
Following the election of the former President Donald Trump in 2016, Carter delivered a statement assuring that, “Last night our fellow American citizens voted for a new President.”
He even noted a memo which was made public a day after the election. He wrote in the memo, “That it happened freely and peacefully is a testament to the great work of this Department.”
Ash received a Distinguished Civilian Service Award for his dedication, geographic combatant commanders, and work for the nation in 2013.
He was among the 10 active defense secretaries to caution the-then president Donald Trump against using the military for domestic political objectives.
In a statement released by their family, they said, “Carter always set politics aside; he served presidents of both parties over five administrations, holding multiple positions within the Department of Defense.”

Ashton Carter, whose full name is Ashton Baldwin Carter, was born on September 24, 1954. He was an American military civilian official.
Ash attained a degree of doctorate in theoretical physics from Oxford University. Previously he even spoke to the media outlets about black holes.
Carter was well viewed more as an academic as well as technocrat inside the Pentagon and less as an Politician.
He tried several possible ways to fill the enormous gap between silicon valley and the Pentagon to introduce technological advancements to the Defense Department.
