1. Salman Khurshid
Salman Khurshid, a renowned attorney and politician, provided advice to Asaram Bapu’s legal team. In addition to practicing law, he is a well-known Indian politician who has ties to the Indian National Congress, a renowned author, and a law professor.
After Congress’ loss in 2014, he agreed to represent Asaram Bapu, who was charged with sexually abusing a little girl, in his application for bail before the Supreme Court. When some journalists questioned Mr. Khurshid about taking the job, he said,
“The press has no right to question what I do in my professional sphere and capacity.”
2. Ram Jethmalani
Ram Jethmalani, a legendary figure in the legal field, also took part in defending Asaram Bapu. While being a lawyer, he held positions as president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, head of the Indian Bar Council, and Union Minister of Law and Justice for India.
3. Subramanian Swamy
Subramanian Swamy, a prominent politician and legal expert, offered his services as part of Asaram Bapu’s defense. He is an Indian politician known for his Hindu nationalist views and is currently associated with the BJP. Apart from being a lawyer and politician, he is also an economist and statistician.
