About Arne Slot

Arend Martijn “Arne” Slot, was born in Bergentheim, Netherlands on September 17, 1978. He is a Dutch football manager and former player, currently in charge of Eredivisie club Feyenoord.

Slot began his football journey with the amateur club VV Bergentheim in his hometown of Bergentheim. In 1995, at the age of 17, he joined FC Zwolle, where he made his debut in the senior team.

Early in his professional career, Slot faced challenges with injuries and limited playing time under coach Jan Everse.

However, he later established himself as a goal-scoring attacking midfielder for FC Zwolle. In 2002, the club won the Eerste Divisie, earning promotion back to the Eredivisie after 13 years.

As a player, Slot was a midfielder for FC Zwolle, winning the Eerste Divisie in 2002. He later played for NAC Breda and Sparta Rotterdam before returning to PEC Zwolle, where he claimed another Eerste Divisie title in 2012.

Coaching Career

His coaching career began in the youth academy at PEC Zwolle, followed by an assistant role at SC Cambuur, where he eventually became co-head coach. In 2017, Slot joined AZ Alkmaar as an assistant, later becoming the head coach in 2019.

In 2021, Slot was appointed head coach of Feyenoord. During his first season, he led the team to the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2022. He then guided Feyenoord to an Eredivisie title and a KNVB Cup in subsequent seasons.
